Will my frame display anything with a 'jpeg' extension? Strangely not! Editing, camera types and information held within the file itself may hinder your frame's ability to display correctly.
I get "JPEG DATA CORRUPT" error - what is wrong? When this occurs it is typically because the file being displayed has EXIF data associated with it. This data often includes Camera Type, Serial No, and other unnecessary information. Simply edit the file and remove EXIF data and embed the Color Source (web ready) and your frame will display the images correctly. If you are unsure how to do this, drop us an email at framesupport@portableusa.com and we'll show you how.
What is the maximum size image I can display? The 8 and 10.4 inch frames can all take a 12 MegaPixel image and scale it to the frame's display size - either 640x480, 800x600 or 1024x768 (15"). This uses extra memory and takes longer to render on the screen. We recommend you resize everything for the frame to the screen's display format for best results.
What is ASPECT RATIO? How does it affect the image? Portable USA only manufacture true 4:3 ratio displays for perfect picture display. A Widescreen photo frame (typical in 7 inch, cheaper frames) will either expand an image to cut off the edges, make thin people / trees / buildings look wide or leave big black lines down the side of the image - none of which we consider acceptable.
